Internship Location: Madison WI
Organization Type: Nonprofit
Policy Areas: Environment, Energy, and Sustainability Policy
As a student intern for the Office of Sustainability at UW-Madison, I am on the Podcast and Green Labs teams and aiding in the office’s many other education and outreach efforts. In these two roles, I created content on environmental policy and assisted in implementing more sustainability efforts across campus in labs. One of the most notable skills I developed through the La Follette School was looking at an organization and its policy efforts through a systems thinking perspective. This internship taught me that many more pieces at the federal, state, and local levels affect each organization and how to navigate them. After completing this internship, I recommend this experience. For individuals interested in sustainability and environmental work, the Office of Sustainability is doing tremendous work in aiding the campus in reaching sustainability goals such as net zero and zero waste, efforts regarding education and outreach, and so much more. Working here has been a fantastic opportunity, and I will certainly take everything I have learned with me as I enter a career in environmental law and policy.
