I learned the complexity of policy implementation and the difficulty of bringing actors together to achieve a common goal. As I completed my internship and coursework at the same time, I was able to reflect on course topics like administrative burdens as I moved through my internship. The combination of the two helped me deepen my understanding of real-life policy practices. I recommend that future students really lean into the coworker networking aspects of the course. Instead of feeling like you are being forced to connect with colleagues, embrace the opportunity and learn from experienced professionals in the field.
