L&S Honors Program

Internship Location: Madison WI

Organization Type: State Government

Policy Areas: Academic Policy and Policy Administration

Through my internship at the L&S Honors Program, I saw how the policy cycle is present in organizations outside of the government, and how similarly structured universities and governments are when it comes to policy. I was able to attend Faculty Honors Committee meetings where I saw policy be introduced and passed. Through my honors in the major projects, I learned inductive analysis skills. Also through this project, I was able to strengthen my presentation as I presented my findings to the Faculty Honors Committee. Lastly, this project allowed me to become more familiar with Excel Spreadsheets which is an essential skill. I would recommend this to a future student interested in seeing the policy administration side of academia. Also, my colleagues and supervisor were super supportive, respectful, communicative, and overall delightful human beings. This internship made me realize that I would be content in a career in academic policy administration if I wanted to continue down this path.
