Legislative Intern, Sen. Cabral-Guevara

Internship Location: Madison WI

Organization Type: State Government

Policy Areas: All types but primarily health policy

My internship at the state capitol has been a fantastic one and I have learned a lot about the government and future aspirations. Roughly each week we had a new subject to learn about the state government such as the legislative process, communications, health policy, and committees. Throughout this internship I conducted three research reports on the Opioid Crisis, APRN Independent Practice, and Medicaid Expansion. As I was taking PA327 along side this internship, it helped me look into the work I was doing at a different lens and learn more about other opportunities there are through my peers. I would 100% recommend this internship to future students as it is great way to dip your toes into the government process and a great opportunity to conduct research in health care topics that you are interested in. This internship helped me solidify that I want to stay in the government and health policy industry, and also that I am sure about attending law school.
