For The Long Term

Internship Location: Remote

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas: Economic policy

I gained valuable insights into nonprofit operations and how different state governments function. One of the biggest takeaways was learning how crucial thorough communication and accuracy are in any role. These skills are essential, and my coursework at La Follette definitely helped. Intro to Public Policy was particularly useful because it gave me a broad understanding of various policy areas, which made adapting to new ideas much easier. What surprised me the most was discovering that my true interests lie more in public policy or law rather than finance. This realization has given me a clearer direction for my future career. The internship offered a low-stakes environment where I could explore my interests while using skills like critical thinking and effective communication that I developed at La Follette. The most valuable thing from this experience has been the connections I have made, everyone at the nonprofit was very supportive and helpful.
