Through my internship with Feeding Wisconsin I experienced firsthand the advocacy process and how shareholders can make their concerns heard through state and federal channels. I believe that through my education in policy analysis, I was well equipped to handle communications with staffers, food banks and community neighbors. I found that the degree of freedom in the role quite refreshing and oftentimes tasks could be finished in a basis that was flexible as well as reasonable. I think I would recommend this internship to anyone who has an interest in food security and advocacy at the grassroots level. I believe that my skills learned in this internship focused heavily on effective communication and application of data analytics which will help me in presenting future topics and expressing my ideas.
