My internship experience at Centene Corporation was incredible and taught me lessons I will carry throughout my professional development. My coursework in the La Follette School aptly prepared me for the jargon-heavy world of health policy discussions in Washington, D.C. Learning from colleagues with decades of experience in the American healthcare industry is an invaluable experience, and I hope to grow the professional relationships I started this summer. I would recommend this internship to any student who has an interest in the intersection between health policy and government-funded healthcare. The industry has a need for young professionals who think of health-policy issues holistically. This summer confirmed my desire to get an MPH or MPP. Many people I worked with had either a master’s or a J.D, so I want to join the ranks and get a graduate degree.
