Internship Location: Remote
Organization Type: Nonprofit
Policy Areas: Social Justice, Political Violence
My internship with the Bridging Divides Initiative (BDI) was an amazing experience. I was able to develop my monitoring, research, and writing skills while making a difference across Wisconsin. In this internship, I created a biweekly report that detailed the current political climate in Wisconsin, while using open source intelligence to monitor up and coming threats across the state to take action before they occur. Additionally, I also created a report that detailed the usage of ballot drop boxes across Wisconsin. The writing skills and policy knowledge I gained at La Follette were incredibly useful throughout the course of my internship. It was incredible to see what was happening across Wisconsin and how these events changed given the changing political climate across the United States, and I really enjoyed getting to stay up to date on local news and policy. When considering what I want to do after I graduate, this internship helped me realize that I definitely want to keep exploring the policy research field.
