Internship Location: Madison WI
Organization Type: Nonprofit
Policy Areas: Workforce development
During my internship at WRTP | BIG STEP Madison, I served as a program coordinator, supporting vital program operations and acting as a liaison between staff, community, and agencies. My responsibilities included managing the intake process, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and ensuring participant satisfaction. I played a key role in gathering and recording participant information, optimizing intake procedures, and assisting with program development. I had the opportunity to work on both data projects and program coordination. Currently, my team and I are developing a curriculum for our fall programming, which has given me valuable hands-on experience in applying policy analysis. I’ve found myself increasingly drawn to data management and analysis, a field that I’m eager to explore further. Working with an all-women team has been particularly inspiring, aligning with my passion for women’s empowerment and providing me with a strong support system. One of the major lessons I learned was the importance of clear communication and collaboration to avoid misunderstandings and ensure the success of our initiatives. Additionally, I discovered the value of flexibility and proactive outreach in adapting to participant needs and external changes. This experience has enriched my skills in project management and data analysis, and I’m excited to continue integrating these insights into my studies and future career in International Public Affairs.
