Wisconsin Policy Forum

Internship Location: Madison WI

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas:  Research

In the summer of 2021, I worked as Policy Research Intern for the Wisconsin Policy Forum, a nonpartisan research organization dedicated to conducting data-driven research and analysis in order to inform debate and effective decision-making in Wisconsin. The majority of my work involved conducting budget and governance structure analyses for various government entities. One major positive from this internship is that I was able to partake in research in a variety of policy areas including state general transportation aids, public health departments, county park systems, fire and EMS service sharing, and many others. Throughout the course of my internship, I was able to further develop my research, writing, and policy analysis skills that had their foundation in my La Follette coursework. Overall, interning for the Wisconsin Policy Forum was a fantastic experience, and led to many meaningful professional relationships. I will be continuing my internship with the Forum into the fall semester, and I look forward to continuing to be introduced to new policy areas and their impacts on the state of Wisconsin, all while using new skills gained in my upcoming courses in my internship work.
