I interned with the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s (DOA) Office of the Secretary where I worked on various public management problems like employee engagement and continuous improvement efforts across state agencies. Highlights of my experience include developing internal and external web pages, as well as programming and visualizing the agency-wide employee engagement survey. This internship illustrated how internal public management practices influence organizational effectiveness. By assessing employee engagement, project management, and system design, I was able to contribute to the behind-the-scenes improvement of public services processes. As I continue into my second year of the MPA program, I’m excited to learn how strong management practices help make government organizations more effective, engaging, and accessible to residents.
