In the summer of 2021, I worked as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Research Intern in the Climate and Energy Program at Public Citizen, a nonprofit organization focused on corporate transparency and consumer rights. the organization, I assisted the Climate and Energy Program with their work submitting public filings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and researched lobbying funds from major electricity utilities in the United States. This internship was remote, as the organization is based in Washington, D.C., and consisted of working individually and efficiently at a flexible pace. My everyday tasks included researching lobbying funds, staying up to date on energy policy, and writing memos. By the end of the internship, I researched FERC filings, created an excel sheet detailing funds from lobbying groups, and wrote a report on specific statutes in government agencies.
