Outrider Foundation

Internship Location: Madison WI

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas: Environmental Policy

Over the summer of 2023, I worked as a foundation relations and climate change policy intern for the Outrider Foundation. As a 501(c)3, this foundation supports publications and news on climate change and nuclear threats. As part of this effort, they partner with organizations and leaders who share their values in environmental work, as well as raising private funds. During my time as a researcher, I created, examined, and analyzed research that correlated with a variety of environmental provisions, including the Build Back Better Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. Additionally, I compiled data for their budget, sponsorship, and key stakeholders. Reporting skills were taught to me in my Public Management course. By publishing factual news, you can raise public awareness about regulation and decision-making. If voices from the community are empowered to vote, any change in policy will be possible. As a result of my supervisor, I gained more experience in environmental policy and was able to connect my social policy interests with the importance of education and awareness. Outrider’s work environment was very welcoming to me. It was a pleasure to work with them and they were very supportive of my career goals.
