Chapin Hall at University of Chicago

Internship Location: Remote

Organization Type: Nonprofit

Policy Areas: Child homelessness, affordable housing, housing justice, child welfare

I greatly enjoyed my internship. Most critical for me was seeing the cohesion between community and researchers that I have felt lacking in other projects I have done. Chapin Hall pays attention to ethics and quality research that I have never experienced in the several research teams I have previously been on. The passion for youth welfare and child homelessness was so easy to see, and it was an incredible experience to share the determination and passion I feel with experts that hold positions I would like to have in the future. La Follette assisted me most in professionally conducting myself, PA 800 and the speed (networking) class in particular were very helpful. I also learned how to make policy jargon more palatable to individuals without an (policy) background. I already knew my career would revolve around youth homelessness and domestic violence as I have been working and studying it for several years now, this further affirmed that I have the qualities and skills to be successful.
