Katie Lorenze (MIPA ’14) joined the La Follette School of Public Affairs as department administrator in August 2018. As administrator, Lorenze works with the director and associate director to provide administrative leadership for the department. She also manages career services for current students and alumni.
Lorenze, who is fluent in Spanish, received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and Hispanic studies from UW–Madison in 2009. As an undergrad, she worked with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health as a research assistant and a bilingual coordinator at a local free clinic. She also studied in Chile for a semester.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Lorenze served as a language and cultural ambassador for the Ministry of Education in Spain from 2009 to 20011, and from 2011 to 2012 as a bilingual family outreach worker for Head Start in Madison. Most recently, Lorenze served as a research analyst for the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, where she joined shortly after graduating from the La Follette School.
Outside of work she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her black lab, Pisco.
