Tamara Keith | 2023 Offner Lecture
March 29 — 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

National Public Radio White House Correspondent Tamara Keith presented the 2023 Paul Offner Lecture.
The 2023 Paul Offner Lecture featured a presentation at the Overture Center on Americans’ declining trust in traditional media and the significance of this trend in a democratic society. Following the presentation, Keith answered questions about her recent reporting on issues as a White House correspondent.
Keith has been a White House correspondent for NPR since 2014 and co-hosts the NPR Politics Podcast, the top political news podcast in America. In that time, she has chronicled the final years of the Obama administration, covered Hillary Clinton’s failed bid for president from start to finish, and thrown herself into documenting the Trump administration, from policy made by tweet to the president’s COVID diagnosis and the insurrection. In the final year of the Trump administration and the first year of the Biden administration, she focused her reporting on the White House response to the COVID-19 pandemic, breaking news about global vaccine sharing, and plans for distribution of vaccines to children under 12.
Keith was also part of the Politics Monday segment on the PBS NewsHour, a weekly segment rounding up the latest political news. In 2018, Keith was elected to serve on the board of the White House Correspondents’ Association and is the association’s president through July 15, 2023 .
Funding for this event was generously provided by the Offner Lecture Series and the Kohl Initiative. Keith served as the university’s spring 2023 Public Affairs Journalist in Residence.
