ABOUT THE LAB: The Legislative Audit Bureau supports the Legislature in its oversight of Wisconsin government and its promotion of efficient and effective state operations by providing nonpartisan, independent, accurate, and timely audits and evaluations of public finances and the management of public programs. Audit Bureau reports, which are submitted to the Legislature and are publicly available, typically contain reviews of financial transactions, analyses of agency performance or public policy issues, conclusions regarding the causes of problems found, and recommendations for improvement.
ABOUT THE EVENT: Joe Chrisman, the State Auditor, and Sara Sanders, a 2017 graduate of the La Follette School of Public Affairs, will be available to discuss and answer questions about the impactful work of the Audit Bureau, including how performance evaluators plan and conduct analyses to help Legislators and state agencies address complex public policy issues. Joe and Sara will discuss the Audit Bureau’s unique professional development and training opportunities, its collaborative and professional team environment, and its mentoring program and other types of support provided to new performance evaluators. Joe and Sara will also discuss how the skills learned at La Follette provide a strong foundation for a successful career at the Audit Bureau. Early in 2020, the Audit Bureau will be recruiting for full-time entry-level positions and internships that will begin in June 2020.
