How have your La Follette School courses and/or experiences contributed to meeting your career goals?
In my current job, I work with a variety of stakeholders that include state and local government agencies and nonprofit organizations working to end homelessness in Minnesota. My La Follette experience has enabled me to see how data can drive policy as well as consider its implications for program evaluation and performance management.
Most challenging experience at La Follette
Working 20 hours per week as a project assistant in my first year.
Most rewarding experience at La Follette
The capstone project that I was a part of was definitely the most rewarding experience. We got to assess the regulatory system for the assisted living industry in Wisconsin, a task that was challenging but offered an opportunity to affect change for thousands of people across the state.
Why the La Follette School?
I decided to go to La Follette because of the school’s reputation and strong faculty expertise, and I felt that I needed more concrete, applicable skills to prepare me for a career in public service. I got just that. The financial aid I received also played a significant role in my decision.
