2005 alumnus receives leadership award

Bryan Gadow (’05 MPA) received the Richard B. Schmied Leadership Award from the Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) on April 25. Schmied, who served as president of the New Glarus Village Board, was president of the GCDC when he passed away in 2000.

The GCDC honored Gadow for his work to improve lines of communication among the Village Board, village staff, residents, and other community stakeholders and for his work to improve the village’s budgeting process for better transparency and clarity. The organization also recognized his economic development efforts, including the village’s selection for the Connect Communities program through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Gadow joined the village of New Glarus in September 2015 after serving as city planner, assistant city manager, and director of planning and building for the city of Wayzata, Minn. In New Glarus, he manages the village’s day-to-day operations, including a $5 million budget and a staff of 17.
