Steven Kulig serves as the administrator and career services coordinator at the La Follette School of Public Affairs. As the administrator, he manages and oversees human resources and payroll functions for all department personnel. He also serves as the school’s budget and financial officer, providing leadership and operational expertise for the development, coordination, and administration of the annual operational budget and non-state funded accounts. As career services coordinator, he initiates and manages career planning and job placement for all students and alumni. This management includes meeting with students, networking with employers, designing and implementing professional development activities, and coordinating recruitment visits and other campus career services events.
Kulig earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 2007. After graduation, he spent over six years working as a legislative assistant in the Wisconsin State Senate. During the final three years of his time in the legislature, he attended the La Follette School of Public Affairs part-time, earning his Master’s in Public Affairs in 2014. Soon after graduation, he joined the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a Budget and Policy Analyst, where he administered the financial integrity of multiple Medicaid-eligible county mental health programs. He joined the La Follette School in his current role in April of 2016.
Outside of work, he enjoys running and participating in local sports leagues, including softball, basketball, flag football, and volleyball.
